Rise of the Jack O’ Lanterns

On Thursday, I had the opportunity to see this amazing event at LA Arboretum. It was amazing! Thousands of carved pumpkins were everywhere and the carvers create new ones weekly to replace the rotting ones. The first few hundred pumpkins are set up with different faces, different colors and grouped in large numbers. Hundreds of them were stringed on a tree like Christmas lights. It get overwhelming because there are so many faces to look. Then the more you walk, there are several themed sections such as movies, games and dinosaurs.

My favorite one is the one I saved for last. The dinosaurs. It was a huge scene with skeletal pumpkin dinosaurs, dinosaurs eggs and leaves. The carvers stack pumpkins on pumpkins to make them life-size dinosaurs and it was a beaut! I admit I may like dinosaurs a tad bit too much but they’re very interested creatures. The Rise of the Jack O’ Lanterns is slightly magical and spookacular event especially at the nighttime with the moon shining above.
