Happy Belated Valentine’s Day!

Okay, it’s way long past Valentine’s Day but I hope you all had a great one! :) If you have not noticed, tomorrow will be the last day of 4th week of school! Once this week is past, it marks a quarter done through the whole semester. Dang, so fast! But kind of exciting for me!

And what’s even more exciting? Having a roommate who bakes! No, she doesn’t bake every single day but when she does, she bakes in pretty fun way! Never ordinary chocolate or vanilla with typical buttercream frosting. She baked plenty types of cool desserts and I get to be one of her taste testers, hehe. Today she baked chocolate cupcakes with butterscotch chips and little hearts on top for late Valentine’s Day treats. Yummy!
In the background, it’s a picture from a book, Inventing L.A. for my journalism homework. Did you know that Hollywood used to be called Hollywoodland? They took down the “land” part in 1949.

Thank you, Kimb! Best of all, I knew this girl for 15 years, booyah! :)

Oh yeah, today in my Jour 100 class we were talking about how music gave impact to the society. Well, I’ve definitely grew fond of the song, American Pie. Pretty impressive with so many references. The voice is really soothing, too. Why has I never heard this song before? Here you go!

Then there’s another song that’s similar but very upbeat, haha.

A video about all things that happened. The main chorus isn’t on the screen but it went like this:
We didn’t start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world’s been turning
We didn’t start the fire
No we didn’t light it
But we tried to fight it

Why am I showing you this? Well, to be honest I wouldn’t have thought the songs as messages to the people on terms of bigger issues. Then it got me thinking on how this time period is like right now. Interesting to see such changes from past and present, in terms of both current events and creating songs. Something to think about.

Anyhoo, here to a good ending of 4th week! See ya!
